Shopping & Entertainment
     There is plenty to do during all seasons when you stay at Next Step Heaven.  Wear Valley has craft and antique shops located on Wears Valley Road.  There is considerably more shopping and a large variety of fun things to do in the area around Next Step Heaven, such as, Pigeon Forge, Sevierville, and Gatlinburg.  Listed below are various forms of entertainment and shopping areas located in the cities mentioned.  Please take note that places listed below are sometimes very crowded with car and foot traffic.  Be rest assured, after a long day of entertaining and shopping fun, Next Step Heaven is waiting for you at the side of Cove Mountain, on the Peaceful side of the Smokies.

  • Music Mountain Theatre - features Grand Ole Opry stars Jim Ed Brown, Johnny Russell and The Four Guys (865-429-7111)
  • Music Mansion - located on Music Road, features James Rogers and others (865-428-7469)
  • T.G. Sheppard's Theater in the Smokies - with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and special effects; runs April through December. (865-428-8000)
  • Miniature golf courses
  • Carbo's Police Museum - features "Walking Tall" Sheriff Buford Pusser, and includes the 1974 Corvette in which he was killed; features other police items from around the world.
  • Flyaway - indoor skydiving
  • Ogle's Water Park - with a giant wave pool, 10 water slides, huge children's area, two restaurants, etc.
  • Helicopter rides
  • Dollywood - Dolly Parton's theme park featuring 40 live performances every day, 31 rides and attractions, and more. (865-428-9488)
  • Dixie Stampede - Enjoy a four-course meal while watching a rodeo, of sorts, Southern style, complete with belles and heroes. (1-800-356-1676)
  • Forbidden Caverns - Ancient mysteries, Indian legends and natural wonders, with special lighting and sound presentations. Always 58 degrees. Open daily. (865-453-5972)

Gatlinburg

  • Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park: Getting there is half the fun. The aerial tramway travels from downtown Gatlinburg slightly over two miles to Ober Gatlinburg Ski Resort and Amusement Park.
  • Christus Gardens: Presenting highlights from the life of Christ, Christus Gardens is a family-oriented attraction that has been enjoyed by more than three generations. Open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. (865-436-5155)
  • Fun Mountain: Discover a mountain of fun at Gatlinburg's new multimillion-dollar family entertainment complex.
  • Gatlinburg Passion Play - a musical drama about the life of Christ. Call for reservations and times. (865-430-3777)
  • Guinness World Records Museum - Featuring all new exhibits from the Guinness Book of World Records.
  • Ripley's Believe It or Not Museum
  • Jim Grey Gallery - art gallery
  • Arrowmont School and Shop - The school dates back to 1912, when the Pi Beta Phis, the national's oldest college women's fraternity, opened a school for isolated mountain children to supplement their three-month public education. In 1915 it began to revive the mountain crafts of basket making and weaving. The shop became the outlet for the sale of the crafts, and it remains so today. Handmade items such as woven placemats and baskets and even clothes can be found here.
  • Ripley's Motion Master
  • Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community - more than 70 artists' studios, shops and homes on an 8.5-mile loop, located 3 1/2 miles east of downtown on Highway 321 North (865-436-9214 or 865-436-7921)
  • World's largest aerial tramway, between downtown and Ober Gatlinburg atop Mt. Harrison. It's known as the South's finest ski resort, with eight slopes, a half-mile Alpine slide, indoor ice arena complex and the longest sightseeing chairlift in the South.
  • Twelve Los Vegas-type wedding chapels with no waiting, and everything furnished but the license
  • A year's worth of special events, including the Scottish Highland Games in May, the spring Wildflower Pilgrimage, arts and crafts shows, and one of the state's only nighttime Christmas parades, with lighted floats.
